The horizontal, protruding edge of the flooring which provides a seamless, finished look where the floor transitions to the top step. They not only provide an extension of the floor or stair’s surface for safety, they offer an opportunity to up your design game with more modern, clean lines and choice in the thickness to suit your design needs. They can be used to create your own attractive treads with professional onsite installation, or you can have the treads made separately for ease and accuracy of installation, often saving money in the long run.

The horizontal part of a flight of stairs on which a person walks; industry jargon for the “steps”. There are 3 basic types of treads which can be made either using a combination of hardwood flooring and nosing products or pre-made as individual treads. “Closed” treads are fitted between two walls or stringers, and are concealed at both edges. “One Side Open” treads are exposed on one side, and have a return which extends past the riser, while the other edge is concealed.  “Open” or “Two Side Open” treads have returns on both sides which extend past the riser. The benefit of going with pre-made treads is ease and accuracy of installation. Having your stairs pre-made guarantees a consistent quality product and takes a fraction of the time to install, saving money in the long run.

These are treads made to sit on top of a stringer or “float” between them, and can be made as solid components directly from your engineered hardwood. Using a plywood core, we can make them to any size and thickness to seamlessly match the rest of your project.  Our method creates a product which is not prone to warping or cracking over time with seasonal temperature changes as you would find with a solid product.

Because we make our products directly from your engineered hardwood product, there is no guesswork when it comes to colors blending seamlessly . All edges are touched up  and color matched by a trained color expert, using a high quality finishing product which works in sync with the pre-finished material. It is microporous and does not crack, flake, peel or blister, and is resistant against stains and liquids to the highest industrial standards.  The result is a seamless edge finish and products that perfectly match the color of your flooring. Every. Single. Time.
